VLR Emerald Ash Borer and Tree Planting Workshop

emerald ash borer infested tree

Many municipal highway and public works crews find themselves managing and caring for trees in public ways and places. In the morning, learn more about the invasive insect emerald ash borer and its effect on all species of ash trees, including green ash that often lines streets and parks, and how your crews can prepare to safely remove these trees or plan for their treatment. After lunch, complete hands-on training to plant a balled-and-bur lapped tree in a public space, covering the tips and tricks to make planting quick and efficient while ensuring long-term tree survivability.

Instructors: Adam McCullough, Urban Forester, and Joanne Garton, Technical Assistance Coordinator, of the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program.
