VLR Creative Problem Solving

This interactive workshop introduces a variety of creative problem solving and decision-making tools and techniques. Participants will learn to analyze problems, generate creative solutions, and decide which solution most closely matches their needs. Participants get to practice the different tools and techniques learned and how to apply their learning and problem-solving skills.
 
By the end of this training participants will be able to:

  • Apply a four-step process to solve problems and decide on appropriate solutions.
  • Use methods and tools (systematic process and fishbone diagramming) to discover the underlying cause of a problem.
  • Use creative thinking techniques to generate possible solutions to the problem.
  • Identify the best choice from various options.
  • Use the following decision-making techniques: Pro/Con, Force Field Analysis, Decision Matrix, Feasibility/Capability Analysis, and Cost/Benefit Analysis.
  • Create an Action Plan to implement the appropriate solution.

Instructor: Joyce Kemp, is currently the owner of EduDesign, LLC, a small business specializing in online and in-person training and education. Her specialties are professional development, leadership, and software skills. She is passionate about helping students of all ages expand their skills and knowledge.  

Joyce grew up in Highgate, VT, and graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School, Plattsburgh State University, and obtained her master’s degree from St. Michael’s College. She is the mother of two, “Gigi” of four, and currently lives in Enosburgh, VT in a former one-room schoolhouse with her two kitties, Salem and Gizmo. In her spare time, Joyce loves nature photography and tending to her flower gardens.
