VLR Intermediate Welding Processes - Day 2

This is a 2-day workshop. "Intermediate Welding Processes" is the next step for those who have taken Introduction to Welding or have welding experience. Participants work on skills specific to their interests or needs. Metal Inert Gas (MIG), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and oxyfuel gas welding on various materials and stock configurations are covered (Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) will not be covered unless otherwise required). Safe use of all equipment will be reviewed, such as a plasma cutter, oxyacetylene cutting torch, and various saws and grinders. The participant will receive training in welding and machine shop safety practices, the breakdown of equipment and its features, understanding gases and their uses, and the review of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Welding Society (AWS) standards and codes for various engineering practices. All participants should bring their gear to participate.
